The Westin Palace Madrid, popularly known as the Palace Hotel, is located in the heart of Madrid, surrounded by museums such as the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza. The Retiro Park is an eight-minute walk away, and there are dozens of bars and restaurants in the atmospheric streets between the hotel and Plaza Santa Ana.
This luxury hotel, with its main facade facing the scenic "Neptune Fountain", has thrived since its opening in 1912, as the largest and most comfortable hotel in Europe existing at that time. Since then, it has been a favorite haunt of artists, writers, bullfighters and movie stars.
The architecture was designed under the inspiration of the Parisian hotels of the time, later becoming a model for the architects of Madrid. Today it is part of the Starwood group and since 1999 the building has been recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site.
